“Dancing with the Stars” made its audience know exactly what Yacht Rock means this week. The theme covered soft rock classics from the 1970s and 1980s, and the show sent one couple home at the end of the night.
Thirteen pairs started round three. Only one left. Taylor Hanson and Britt Stewart were eliminated after their Foxtrot to “What a Fool Believes” by The Doobie Brothers.

Amber Glenn and Pasha Pashkov led with an 8, 8, 8, 24 out of 30 on their Foxtrot to “Hold the Line” by Toto. Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson followed with the same score, doing a Jive to “You Make My Dreams (Come True)” by Daryl Hall & John Oates.
Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas placed third with a 7, 7, 8, 22 out of 30 on their Quickstep to “Turn Your Love Around” by George Benson. Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach scored 7, 7, 7, 21 out of 30 on their Foxtrot to “Just the Two of Us” by Grover Washington Jr., featuring Bill Withers.
Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik also scored 7, 7, 7, 21 out of 30 on their Quickstep to “Maneater” by Daryl Hall & John Oates. Jenna Dewan and Val Chmerkovskiy matched that total on their Samba to “Africa” by Toto.
Connor Wood and Rylee Arnold scored 7, 6, 7, 20 out of 30 on their Foxtrot to “Everywhere” by Fleetwood Mac. Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa fell to 6, 7, 6, 19 out of 30 on their Salsa to “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do)” by Daryl Hall & John Oates.
Ciara Miller and Brandon Armstrong scored 6, 6, 6, 18 out of 30 on their Cha Cha to “Never Too Much” by Luther Vandross. Taylor Hanson and Britt Stewart landed at 6, 6, 6, 18 out of 30.
Jackson Olson and Emma Slater scored 6, 6, 6, 18 out of 30 on their Paso Doble to “Easy Lover” by Philip Bailey & Phil Collins. Tyler Cameron and Sharna Burgess scored 5, 6, 6, 17 out of 30 on their Jive to “Still the One” by Orleans.
Guillermo Rodriguez and Witney Carson closed the night at the bottom with 5, 5, 5, 15 out of 30 on their Foxtrot to “Escape (The Pina Colada Song)” by Rupert Holmes.
What The Judges Said
Derek Hough called Amber Glenn and Pasha Pashkov’s dance hard to beat. Bruno Tonioli called it excellent. Carrie Ann Inaba praised the growth she saw, calling it the point of the competition.
For Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson, Bruno loved the theatrics, describing the routine as very Broadway-esque, balanced just right.
Maura Higgins drew praise from Derek, who called her performance a quickstep master class in elegance, clean and classic. Bruno compared her to Audrey Hepburn and Ginger Rogers.
Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach were praised for their choreography, presence, poise and quality of movement.
Derek told Tatyana Ali this was her best dance yet, calling it a breakthrough.
Bruno called Jenna Dewan’s routine a sizzling, tropical treat. Carrie Ann asked her to relax and trust the process a bit more.
Derek said Connor Wood is improving every week but wants him to work on technique and move from “nice man” to “leading man.”
Bruno said Julia Stiles had awakened the “Spice Girl” within, with no errors and having fun. Carrie Ann applauded her for giving herself permission to “let go.”
Bruno summed up Ciara Miller with three words: “hot, hot hot!” He reminded her to believe in herself on the dance floor.
Carrie Ann told Taylor Hanson he’s very easy to watch and has a lyrical movement, asking him to find a little more strength in his movements.
Carrie Ann loved Jackson Olson’s intensity and improvement but wanted him to think about dancing “to” the music.
Carrie Ann asked Tyler Cameron to watch his timing and keep his eye on Sharna to help stay in sync.
Carrie Ann praised Guillermo Rodriguez for working hard and said it’s paying off.
The Elimination
Taylor Hanson and Britt Stewart were the pair sent home. Their score of 6, 6, 6, 18 out of 30 was tied with Connor Wood and Rylee Arnold.
The elimination was announced at the end of the broadcast.
