Renewal Details
On Wednesday, June 24, Paramount+ renewed the series ahead of Episode 8. The renewal comes with numbers that explain why the streamer wanted it back.
- Dutton Ranch holds a 90% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes.
- The series drew 12.9 million viewers globally in the seven days after its premiere, the biggest Original Series launch in Paramount+ history.
- Its two-episode debut on Paramount Network on May 15 reached 2.9 million viewers, the biggest cable premiere since 2023.
- The premiere telecast alone pulled 1.85 million viewers, ranking #1 cable entertainment among adults 18-49 and total viewers.

Premiere Timeline
No premiere date is set yet. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed production is expected to begin early next year.
“We’re slated to start early 2027 to film,” Reilly told THR in July. “But the room starts up pretty quick. I think we’re going to be very much involved in the room, so the next sort of six months is all about writing it.”
Assuming production sticks to that timeline, a 2027 premiere seems likely. The show will pick up where Episode 9 left off, answering what happens to Beth, Rip, Carter, and everyone else in Rio Paloma.
New Showrunner
Dutton Ranch Season 2 will have a new creative leader. Benjamin Cavell joins the team ahead of the new season. Chad Feehan, the original showrunner, departed just three weeks before the show’s premiere.
Hauser remains attached. He is an EP on the series, and the show was written to continue Beth, Rip, and Carter’s stories. The recent feud escalation rumors between Hauser and Sheridan have done nothing to change that.
Marshals Season 2
Marshals, the other Yellowstone spin-off, has a firmer schedule. Season 2 premieres Sunday, October 4, 2026 on CBS, with streaming on Paramount+.
Luke Grimes confirmed that Beth and Rip will not appear on Marshals when it returns. “It’s not out of the question that we might have some sort of crossover at some point,” Grimes told TV Insider. “Beth’s basically Kayce’s only living family member other than Tate. It would make sense that down the line we’d at least talk.”
Streaming Platform
Dutton Ranch fans have asked what platform the new season will land on. The answer is simple: Paramount+.
