Dutton Ranch fans are left with a simple answer this weekend: nothing. The Yellowstone spin-off wrapped its first season on July 3, 2026, and there is no official premiere date for Season 2. What it has announced is a premiere for Marshals, the other Sheridan-verse series, which returns Sunday, October 4, 20256 on CBS with streaming on Paramount+.
The news comes from a round-up titled “When Does The New Season Of ‘Dutton Ranch’ Come Out? Everything To Know About ‘Dutton Ranch’ Season 2 Release Date,” which promises answers but mostly delivers questions. The headline asks for a date; the body admits there isn’t one.
The Season 1 Ending
Dutton Ranch’s finale, Episode 9 titled “El Padrino,” ended with Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser) fearing for Carter’s (Finn Little) fate after the cartel kidnapped him. Beulah (Annette Bening) and Oreana (Natalie Alyn Lind) mourned the unexpected death of Rob-Will (Jai Courtney). Joaquin (Juan Pablo Raba), believed to have killed his brother, dealt with his father Mariano (Raoul Max Trujillo) visiting town.
The Renewal Is Official
Paramount+ renewed the series on Wednesday, June 24, ahead of Dutton Ranch Episode 8. The renewal followed a strong first season: a 90% Tomatometer score, and 12.9 million global viewers in the week after its premiere, the biggest original series launch in Paramount+’s history. Its two-episode debut on Paramount Network on May 15 drew 2.9 million total viewers, the biggest cable premiere since 2023.
“Thank you to our partners at Paramount+ and 101 Studios for a phenomenal first season. We look forward to bringing fans more stories from these unforgettable characters in Season 2,” said Matt Thunell, President of Paramount Television Studios.
Production Starts Early Next Year
There is no official premiere date for Season 2, but The Hollywood Reporter confirmed production is expected to begin early next year. THR reported that filming is slated to start early 2027.
“We’re slated to start early 2027 to film,” Reilly said. “But the room starts up pretty quick. I think we’re going to be very much involved in the room, so the next sort of six months is all about writing it.”
The Showrunner Change
Season 1 showrunner Chad Feehan departed just three weeks before the premiere. Benjamin Cavell has taken over as showrunner for Season 2. Hauser remains an EP on the series, and there is no indication Rip is leaving.
No Crossover, Maybe Later
Luke Grimes confirmed there will be no Beth and Rip appearance on Marshals when it returns for Season 2. But Grimes did leave open the door for a crossover down the line.
“It’s not out of the question that we might have some sort of crossover at some point,” Grimes told TV Insider. “Beth’s basically Kayce’s only living family member other than Tate. It would make sense that down the line we’d at least talk.”
Reilly and Hauser have reportedly exchanged positive sentiments about the idea.
