‘Freeze Frame’: Where to Find Every Camera in Control Resonant

A guide to every 'Freeze Frame' camera in Control Resonant, with maps, traversal tips, and stealth tricks for shutting them down.

By mitch·9 min read
A player approaches a glowing camera perched on a rooftop ledge at night.

Control Resonant’s “Freeze Frame” quest sends players hunting cameras that freeze them in place when they snap a photo. The trick is simple: hide from their lenses and approach them from behind to shut them off. There are two cameras in every zone, and the game gives you instant photos as hints, though those photos only show so much. The best advice before you start is to grab the Shift and Reach traversal abilities first, because the cameras are scattered across every corner of the map and some of them sit high above it.

The mission involves tracking down every “Freeze Frame” camera in Control Resonant, and the game organizes them by area. Two cameras sit in Downtown, two more in Central, two in West Incursion Zone, and the Evacuation Zone holds the last pair. Each camera demands its own method of approach, and the game offers no guidance on reaching them. Below is the full list of where to locate every single one.

Downtown’s First Camera

Just to the east of the Dense Patterning area and south of the West Supply Route Station, in the northwestern part of Downtown, rests the Gravity Town camera. To capture it, you require Shift, a resource gained from the Incursion Fault in the West Incursion Zone. Given that the camera lies close to where you obtain Shift, it makes sense to collect the resource before heading there.

To reach the destination, take the route heading southwest from the West Supply Route Station. Once you descend to a lower street, an upside-down building will appear to your east. Glance upward, and you will find a locked metal door on that building.

Climb the wall on your left using Shift, then fall onto the rooftop holding the door. Smash it apart with Crush, then close the camera’s lid to switch it off.

Downtown’s Second Camera

This camera sits at the southeast corner of the eastern region, and the quickest route to it requires Reach. That resource comes from the Subway Fault in the Evacuation Zone. While Reach cuts down the travel time, taking the other path through the parking garage brings its own hazards, since it forces you to face a large number of enemies along the way.

Begin your climb at Lookout Point and make use of Reach upon the raised metal platform. Down beneath you lie several power cores. One of them is required to unlock the door situated behind the camera, yet the path to reach it is complicated, which is why the game advises picking up the “Extended Rush” talent and getting some practice in before attempting the route.

Head toward the green storage container building sitting to the right of the power cores, strike one of them, and rush straight back to the green building. From there, move over to the construction site and keep going south, where you will find a building with an uncharged power core resting on its roof. Race over and hit it to trade the charge.

Start by striking the power core to build up your charge, then move between the buildings to the south and turn right. Once there, you will find a second uncharged power core on the street below. Striking it while your weapon is still charged opens the door. Inside, you will find the camera.

Central’s First Camera

The first Watchtower camera appears in Central, perched on the lowest floor of the Watchtower, one story beneath the elevator, within the orange-red lit chamber. Ascend the scaffolding found in the eastern corner, yet avoid entering the passage at the summit, for the camera can be seen from this vantage point, and approaching it too closely sets off a photograph.

Instead, enter the opening in the ceiling and fall through the second opening below. That places you behind the camera, where you can shut it down.

Central’s Second Camera

To spot the Southwest Central camera, you must enter its field of view from the top floor of a brick factory situated northeast of the parking garage. Once it vanishes, head inside the building and work your way down to the bottom floor. There, overcome the foes and push through the red door to exit outside.

Leave the room and the camera will return. Walk back up to the top, then shut it down.

West Incursion Zone’s First Camera

After completing the Incursion Fault, the first camera of the West Incursion Zone sits in a sideways building just ahead. Face the top of the building to spot a small red light marking the camera’s position. Press Shift to step onto the building, but avoid moving toward the camera itself. Instead, move to the right side and leap across to the rooftop, then jump back down to the earlier building from the higher rooftop. Land behind the camera and close its lid.

West Incursion Zone’s Second Camera

A camera sits upon a hanging platform near the Museum of Curiosities, in the southeast corner of the area. Travel west along the street, then ascend to the road above using Shift. At the far end, look for a raised platform composed of floating traffic cones and waste bins.

Instead of leaping, let yourself fall off the edge until the display turns upside down on its own. Once that happens, spring toward the first platform and then onto the second one that comes into view. After that, bound up to the higher suspended scaffolding platform, and you’ll find yourself directly behind the camera.

Evacuation Zone’s Cameras

This camera sits on the east side of the zone, placed just southwest of the fast travel door marked “Main Street” and the map pylon. The way to shut it down involves charging the power core found behind the camera itself.

Head to the power cores found just below the Evac Building and then turn west. Strike a core, move west down the street, and feed the current into the unpowered core right before the door. Hit the core, pass through the door or Reach over it, and then feed the current into another unpowered core just down the street. Look toward the end of the street and you will find a metal platform leading to a rooftop.

Reach the central point, ascend to the highest point, and move the electrical charge to the ultimate central point. The viewing device is situated behind it.

What We Make Of It

Patience is what the “Freeze Frame” quest demands from players. Each camera conceals its own hazard: a locked door, a core transfer chain, or a camera that freezes you the instant you come near. Those who pause, study the hint photos closely, and plot their next move receive the game’s reward.

The Downtown cameras start things off softly. One follows a steady climb with Shift, while the other offers a brief power core run that takes real effort to master. Central increases the challenge by making the Watchtower camera’s hidden hole and the Southwest Central camera’ vanish suddenly. West Incursion Zone sends players upward through the air using Shift and Reach, and its suspended scaffolding camera demands a series of jumps timed to the screen turning itself inside out.

Among the cameras, the ones in the Evacuation Zone are the longest haul. The East Evacuation Zone camera stands out for sending you charging cores across several streets, and the game’s advice to grab the “Extended Rush” talent applies here too. The final stretch up to the rooftop delivers the payoff, but it arrives after a lot of walking.

Finding the cameras is not made simple by the game, and once you begin searching for them, you are left to work things out on your own. The hint images are deliberately obscure, and the game wants you to look at the surroundings for clues to guide your way. That is the entire intention behind Control Resonant’s design, and “Freeze Frame” applies that reasoning to every single camera.

The sequence of steps for each camera follows a clear pattern:

  1. Find the camera’s location from the hint photo.
  2. Grab the traversal ability you need, if you do not already have it.
  3. Approach the camera from a direction that avoids its field of view.
  4. Use the traversal ability to reach the camera, if needed.
  5. Disable the camera by shutting its lid or destroying it.

From Downtown to the Evacuation Zone, every camera follows the same pattern. The specifics vary: some demand Crush, some call for Reach, some require a charged weapon, some ask for a core chain. Yet the general form of the chase remains constant throughout.

What the game delivers is a journey built from a chain of small problems. Every camera presents its own puzzle, and cracking one lesson prepares you for the next. The game counts on you holding onto what has already served you well, and it gives credit to anyone who takes the time to study the surroundings.

The game depends on repetition, and “Freeze Frame” shows how to keep that repetition from feeling dull. Cameras are placed without much order, the paths through each level change, and the answers are always right there in front of you if you know what to look for.

Among the game’s zones, the West Incursion Zone cameras push players the hardest physically. The suspended scaffolding camera demands a precise run of timed jumps, synchronized with the screen inverting itself, testing both coordination and memory. Learning the rhythm of those jumps is essential, and the game rewards players who commit to mastering that sequence.

This particular camera is the hardest to spot. It only reveals itself when you happen to walk into its line of sight, and the game gives no warning before that moment arrives. Once it catches you, the camera vanishes, leaving you inside a building crawling with enemies as you search for your way back to it. This design will test players who prefer a clear route, but it also offers a reward to those who are ready to try something new.

This camera has the most straightforward design of all. You can see the opening in the roof from the staging, and the game itself warns players against rushing down the corridor above. It asks more of your attention than your steps, and it establishes the pattern that the remainder of the mission follows.

It is wise counsel to secure Shift and Reach before beginning, though the game does not insist upon it; the game merely makes those traversal abilities the swiftest means of reaching each camera.

From start to finish, the game’s design stays steady, and the difficulty rises gradually from one area to the next. Downtown opens the door with the simple idea. Central then brings in the vanishing camera trick. West Incursion Zone follows with the sky leaps. And the Evacuation Zone closes things out with the longest core chain. Each stage adds something new without merely repeating what came before it, which sets this game apart.
