Insomniac has given players a way to turn off the “fart trail” in Marvel’s Wolverine, and the fix arrives with the latest update for the game. The toggle-off option became available with Update 1.001.006, which adds three new settings for fans who aggressively dislike the game’s “hand-holdy” tracking mechanics.
New Toggle Options
The update includes toggles for Whiskey Bottle Scent Trails, Material Crate Audio Clues, and Nightmare Door Roots. These elements previously directed players to the next interactive element by way of a visual representation of Wolverine’s enhanced senses. Now, players can switch them off entirely.

The Bathroom Sign Fix
The update also fixes a separate issue involving the game’s bizarre bathroom signs. Some players claimed the signs were evidence that Insomniac had used generative AI during the game’s development. Insomniac responded with “No way, bub.”

What Remains Visible
Not everything is fixed. Some of the game’s farty “scent trails” still appear, even when toggled off. Story missions like “The One That Got Away,” which requires Wolverine to track down mutant telepath/love interest Jean Grey, still show the trail.
