Korn’s Fieldy and Brian “Head” Welch reunited onstage Saturday for the first time in five years during a performance in Boise, Idaho. The moment marked the end of a long break between two founding members of the band, and it happened at a new venue built by friends from other groups.
The Boise Performance
Korn’s live-streamed performance in the early 2021 marked the last time Fieldy played with the band. He announced a hiatus in June of that year, citing a return to some “bad habits,” though he later admitted this year that declining the COVID vaccine was what made touring with Korn impossible. Since then, Ra Diaz from Suicidal Tendencies has filled in on bass for Korn.
The gathering was held at a fresh location in Boise that The Whosoevers, a Christian Rock collective whose roster includes members of Korn, P.O.D., and Flyleaf, had opened. The show began with Fieldy joining P.O.D.’s Sonny Sandoval for “Boom” and then Head came onstage for “Alive.” Together, they joined Sandoval and company for a cover of the Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage,” followed by a version of DJ Snake’s “Let Me Love You” featuring Flyleaf singer Lacey Sturm.
Three bands came together for a single show, and the pairing of Fieldy and Head drew particular attention, since they had not shared a stage for years.
The Setlist
The lineup combined familiar favorites with fresh additions. The breakdown looked like this:
- Fieldy joined Sonny Sandoval for “Boom.”
- Head joined the stage for “Alive.”
- Fieldy and Head stayed for a cover of the Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage.”
- They closed with DJ Snake’s “Let Me Love You,” featuring Flyleaf singer Lacey Sturm.
The setlist brought friends from other bands together for a cover set, and each song drew its own group of musicians into the mix. One of those covers was Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage.”.
What Comes Next
The band Korn is set to launch a tour across Europe and the United Kingdom in October, and tickets can be purchased at this location.
Korn fans marked the occasion as a milestone, with the reunion being the first time in five years that the two founding members appeared on stage together again.
