Collider spoke with Mandeep Dhillon, who plays Seraphina, along with Teddie Allen and Anson Boon, who play Gina and Eddie, about the twist.
The Harrigans’ New Split
The episode, titled “Song 2,” opens with the Harrigans in a tough spot. Frankie Cooper (Johnny Flynn) delivers a devastating blow to the crime family by the end of the episode. Meanwhile, Seraphina has stood Conrad and Maeve up at dinner while locking down her deal with Kat. The split runs deep, and the show is clearly building toward an even more chaotic second season.
Gina’s Grip on Eddie
Gina’s relationship with Eddie is the show’s most unlikely romance. The two have bonded over their shared experience of growing up as gangster children, isolated from normal life. Both attended posh schools in London, shuttling between the Cotswolds and the city.
Anson Boon believes there are real feelings on Eddie’s side now. “I 100% think there are real feelings now between Eddie and Gina,” he told Collider. “In Series 1, it was part of Eddie’s plan to get at Harry, and he thought, how could he hurt Harry the most? And it would be to get with Harry’s daughter. But I think in spending so much time together, Gina and Eddie have found a real common ground because nobody else can relate to their lived experience.”
Teddie Allen agrees that Gina has a grip on the situation. “I like to think that she does have some sort of feelings for him, but I think she’s a very clever girl, and that’s just her way of letting on to her mother that she does have it in control,” Allen said. “Even though it might not look like that, because Eddie is obviously such a wild character, and her mom knows that. Her dad knows that because he’s had to pick up the pieces for him for years and years and years.”

Why Seraphina Turned
Dhillon explained that Seraphina’s decision to partner with Kat stems from a traumatic experience in Season 1. “She can see that this ship is sinking,” Dhillon said. “She’s very smart, and she can see ahead of her, and she can see that this ship is sinking. She’s very aware that, ‘Okay, if it’s sinking, I’m not going to sink with it.’ So, she’s making moves for herself, and that is honestly, I believe, her driving force.”
The actress also suggested that Seraphina plans to take Kat down eventually. “She’s going for the top of the top of the top,” Dhillon said. “She wants that power. She wants to be able to be the person who can not only just make moves, but actually sit back and rest for a bit in life and be like, ‘Okay, cool, I can delegate. You guys do you.’ She’s business savvy enough to know how it should all be run.”
Who Should We Worry About
The question of who poses the bigger threat in Season 2 — Maeve or Conrad — drew a clear consensus from the cast. Allen and Boon both pointed to Maeve as the puppet master.
“I think always Maeve,” Allen said. “Conrad is very quick off the trigger, but she really is the puppet master. She’s just got fingers in all of the pies.”
Boon agreed. “Yeah, Maeve. She’s the puppet master.”
Dhillon added a caveat. “I do think Conrad right now is going through something, and the thing that he’s going through is taking whatever logic he did have out of it, as well,” she said. “So I feel like even the start of Episode 1, he’s not thinking ahead. He’s just doing things. And so that is also a little bit dangerous.”
Allen summed it up. “He’s a loose cannon.”
