Mötley Crüe have announced a 45th anniversary edition box set of their debut album, Too Fast For Love, set to arrive October 30th via BMG. The package comes with a new music video for a previously unreleased 1981 demo track, “Nobody Knows What It’s Like to Be Lonely.”
The band released the video alongside the announcement. It features grainy black and white footage of skulls, pentagrams, and candelabras with white and black candles, matching the occult-adjacent look Mötley Crüe wore during a stretch of their early career. The track is a Sabbathian doomy heavy metal song, a pleasant addition for fans who prefer the rougher-edged material of the band’s early years.
What’s In The Box Set
The Too Fast For Love 45th anniversary box set includes two versions of the debut album:
- The 1982 Elektra Records wide-release edition
- The far rarer 1981 Leathür Records self-release
The set also bundles a live double album titled Live at Perkins Palace 1982, featuring early versions of tracks from 1983’s Shout at the Devil. It includes a 5-track vinyl of the band’s 1981 studio demos, a replica of their debut 7″ single for “Stick To Your Guns” b/w “Toast of the Town,” and a replica of their 1981 demo cassette.
The Tracklist
The Too Fast For Love 1981 Leathür Records edition runs ten tracks, starting with “Live Wire” and ending with “On With the Show.” The 1982 Elektra edition swaps the running order, placing “Come On and Dance” second and “One With the Show” at the end.
The Live at Perkins Palace 1982 disc spans thirteen tracks, including early versions of “Looks That Kill,” “Red Hot,” “Shout at the Devil,” “Running Wild in the Night,” “Hotter Than Hell,” “Knock ‘Em Dead, Kid,” and “Helter Skelter.”
The March 1981 demos include five tracks: “Nobody Knows What It’s Like To Be Lonely,” “Public Enemy #1,” “Stick To Your Guns,” “Take Me To The Top,” and “Tonight.” The 7″ single pairs “Stick to Your Guns” with “Toast of the Town,” while the original demo cassette holds four tracks: “Public Enemy #1,” “Take Me to the Top,” “Stick to Your Guns,” and “Toast of the Town.”
