“Neither of our characters from a background in martial arts. We’re just like trying to survive by trying to get the gun.”
The scene is scrappy and messy, not polished. That’s the point. Both men are fighting for their lives, not showing off moves.
The last take went wrong. Holt twisted his ankle and couldn’t walk on it. He feared production would shut down.
“It was kind of scary for everybody. That can really hold up production.”
He went to the hospital and felt better the next day. Strong ankles, he jokes.
Renee’s Hidden Martial Arts Skills
Renee kills two people in an alley in Episode 7. Neagley asks her how she did it, and Rudolph explains the moment:
“She does have a background when it comes to martial arts, and she does have a background when it comes to being able to handle a weapon. She’s just never had to put it into practice.”
The scene shows Renee applying those skills in a real fight for the first time. Rudolph says it was fun to play, and she describes the emotional cost:
“She’s just rattled by it emotionally, but also just having to do it because their lives were on the line.”

“He gets mad, but he doesn’t become cynical. That’s the thing that I found most inspiring about him.”
Hudson Gets Vindicated for Killing Murphy
Hudson is congratulated for taking out Murphy instead of punished for it. Holt says the moment offered vindication, but it doesn’t change Hudson’s approach:
“There was a lot of vindication in that moment, but I don’t think that changes his approach. He was put in a very specific situation there. I don’t think he’s going to go out seeking to kill cops now.”
Holt argues the fight was messy and personal, not a calculated move. Hudson was fighting for his life, not hunting targets.
What the Kiss With Keno Could Mean
The finale features Renee and Keno sharing a kiss. Rudolph isn’t sure where Renee’s brother storyline goes next, but she thinks it deserves exploration.
“It’s something that we must be able to explore. It’s such a big part of Renee’s motivation in Season 1.”
Rudolph admits she has the same questions as everyone else. She wants to see Renee’s journey continue, especially since the brother has defined her actions so far.
