A new Yu-Gi-Oh deck has arrived, and it wants to summon dragons while also clearing the opponent’s field of spells. The Light and Darkness Ritual Rokket Dragon Ruler deck, ft. BETB Support [CDP], pairs the old LaDR strategy with Dragon Ruler combos and the Borrel card advantage engine.
The build comes from a channel known for creative deck profiles, and it is a return to form after a recent focus on giant monster piles. This time, the deck leans on dragons instead.
The LaDR Consistency Engine
The core trick is simple. Black Chaos and Griffoh both get a copy of Mind Shuffle, which searches for any monster named Light and Darkness Ritual. Ragged Records of Rites then finds any monster that mentions LaDR. Skull Archfiend of Chaos sends a LaDR from Deck to GY and tutors either Ritual Monster.
“Oh, and need I mention Skull Archfiend of Chaos, which sends Light and Darkness Ritual from Deck to GY and tutors either of your Ritual Monsters?”
That single card closes the loop.
The Dragon Ruler Combo
The deck borrows a trick from the older Dragon Ruler era. Spectral, Dragon Ruler of Flickers discards itself alongside any Dragon or LIGHT monster to tutor two other Dragon Rulers. That sets up a chain: Lightning, Dragon Ruler of Drafts summons a big monster like Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms, and Spectral gets another to the GY.
Chasma, Dragon Ruler of Auroras is the payoff. It is an R7NK that sends any Dragon Ruler from Deck to GY and applies its effect as if it were discarded. Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls is the key piece, since it can send any monster from Deck to GY, including your own Skull Archfiend of Chaos.
Opening With Spectral Is Not Required
The combo does not start with Spectral alone. Any combination of Dragon Ruler monsters can open the chain, and it is even easier if you run other Level 7 Dragon options. Those are also found in the Rokket archetype, which ties the whole build together.
The Rokket Borrel Finisher
The back half of the deck is built around Borrel card advantage. Quick Launch or Triple Borrel Launch summons a Rokket from Deck, and the chain escalates through Striker Dragon and Breechborrel Dragon to end at LINK-5 Borrelshroud Dragon.
Along the way, the deck picks up a free Field Spell in Boot Sector Launch. With a Level 6+ DARK Spellcaster, Magicians’ Souls sends Cosmo Queen the Queen of Prayers to the GY, unlocking Secret Village of the Spellcasters and locking the opponent out of using Spell cards.
What the Deck Actually Plays
The full decklist runs 60 cards, including monsters like Black Skull Dragon the Archfiend Dragon of Unity, Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos, and Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders. The Extra Deck includes Dark Magician of Destruction, Chasma, Dragon Ruler of Auroras, and Borrelshroud Dragon.
The Build’s Weak Point
The writer admits the Borrel engine alone is not that much. But the free card advantage from the dragon combos feeds directly into it, and the Field Spell and Spell lock make the late game harder for the opponent to survive.
Why This Matters
The deck is a fresh way to play LaDR. It takes a consistency engine that has been around for years and pairs it with a combo that has been reworked for the modern game.

The Schedule
| Part | Theme |
|---|---|
| 1 | LaDR consistency engine |
| 2 | Dragon Ruler combos |
| 3 | Rokket Borrel finisher |
| 4 | Full decklist |
| 5 | Writer’s invitation |
This is a deck that rewards attention. It asks players to hold two loops in mind at once — the ritual consistency of LaDR and the dragon combos — and it pays off when those loops connect.
