Peacock’s The Good Daughter trailer dropped Tuesday, and it shows Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy teaming up to solve a murder mystery in their small town. The show is adapted from Karin Slaughter’s bestselling novel, and the author is also the showrunner, writer and executive producer.
The sisters Charlotte Quinn (Fahy) and Samantha Quinn (Byrne) have spent 20 years piecing together the lives shattered by a single night of violence. When another attack rocks the small town of Pikeville, Charlotte — now a lawyer like her father — is the first witness on the scene. As the case unfolds, the synopsis promises “not just a story of survival, but of enduring ties between a father and his daughters and the complex bond between sisters.”
What the Trailer Shows
Brendan Gleeson warns in the trailer that “There’s more to the story than what you’re hearing.” In the footage, Fahy and Byrne join forces with a teen pinpointed as the prime suspect to unravel the mystery. Fahy delivers a line about secrets: “When you keep a secret, it can turn you into a person you don’t want to be.”
The trailer also teases that Charlotte and Sam’s past holds more than they may admit. The show blends the murder investigation with an “emotional story about love, family and resilience.”
The Team Behind the Show
Made Up Stories produces the series in partnership with global film and TV studio Fifth Season. Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky and Casey Haver serve as executive producers alongside Byrne. Steph Green directs with additional executive producer credit.
Olivia Williams, Harper Steele, Michael Dorman, Audrey Grace Marshall and Drew Cheek round out the cast. All six episodes of the limited series premiere on Peacock on Nov. 12.
Slaughter’s Statement
Slaughter praised the casting in a statement. “The Good Daughter is a story of love, family and the unbreakable bond between two resilient, funny, difficult sisters,” she said. “It’s thrilling to watch Charlie and Sam brought to life by two extraordinarily talented women. Rose and Meghann perfectly captured the sister relationship — all the history, heartache and joy — wrapped inside this puzzle of a mystery.”

Our Call
The setup is classic thriller fare: a small town, a murder, sisters with a shared history. What separates The Good Daughter is the emotional core Slaughter wants to foreground. She described the show as a story of “love, family and the unbreakable bond between two resilient, funny, difficult sisters,” and the trailer leans into that tension rather than hiding it behind car chases.
Whether the mystery can sustain six episodes without losing that warmth is the question the trailer doesn’t fully answer.
The show premieres on Nov. 12, and the full trailer is available now.
