Pokémon Horizons is finally getting a date. Season 4 of the anime, subtitled Wonders Ahead, will start streaming on Netflix Feb. 27, 2027 in the U.S. The announcement settles the question of when the series returns after its third season ended in September for US viewers.

The new season picks up with Liko and Roy, the protagonists who first appeared in 2023, setting off on new adventures across the Paldea region. The official synopsis promises encounters with unusual Pokémon, discoveries about Pokémon sleep habits, and races alongside Legendary Pokémon, with Liko and Roy always learning and growing stronger with their Pokémon partners.

Liko, Roy and the Paldea Region

Pokémon Horizons broke from tradition when it debuted in 2023. Unlike most Pokémon anime, it does not star Ash Ketchum, the character who has anchored the franchise since its beginning. Instead, it follows Liko and Roy as they explore the Paldea region.

Their partner Pokémon are two of the new starters from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Liko bonded with a Sprigatito, and Roy raised a Fuecoco. The anime also kept a familiar face in the mix: a Pikachu serves as captain, and this one’s a leader among the group.

The region itself remains central to the story. After facing the threat of season 3’s Laquium, Liko and Roy are free to roam further, meeting new creatures and learning about the world around them. The show’s format keeps viewers grounded in the Paldea region even as the characters venture out into new territory.

Ditto Returns as a Stowaway

Ditto had a starring role in Pokémon Pokopia, and now the shape-shifting Pokémon returns to Pokémon Horizons Season 4. The official plot synopsis describes Ditto as a “stowaway” who becomes a featured player in the new season.

This is not the first time Ditto has played a central role in a Pokémon story. Its appearances in other projects show a pattern of the shape-shifting Pokémon showing up unexpectedly and changing the course of events.

What Taito Okiura Said

The Pokémon Company International vice president of marketing and media Taito Okiura spoke directly about the season in a news release. His message was warm and forward-looking.

“We are so proud of every single episode and hope that the themes of adventure and friendship resonate with fans,” he said. “The world of Pokémon keeps growing, and we can’t wait to show Trainers what else is on the horizon.”

Okiura’s comments tie back to the show’s core appeal. The anime focuses on exploration and connection rather than becoming the best there ever was.

The Netflix Setup

Season 4 will join the first three seasons of Pokémon Horizons on Netflix. Like those earlier seasons, it will be released in separate parts. The first part streams on Feb. 27, 2027.

The multi-part rollout mirrors the structure of previous seasons. Viewers who want to jump back in can find the full history of the show on the platform, with the fourth season landing right after the third ends.

The Official Synopsis

The official plot synopsis sets the tone for what is to come. Liko and Roy encounter unconventional Pokémon, discover Pokémon sleep styles, and race alongside Legendary Pokémon, always learning and growing stronger with their Pokémon partners.

Unusual Pokémon, discoveries about Pokémon sleep habits, and races alongside Legendary Pokémon — these are the ingredients of a season that promises to keep the show fresh. Each element adds something distinct to the story, whether it’s a rare creature, a look at how Pokémon rest, or a chase scene involving a Legendary Pokémon.
