Ryan Murphy has finally confirmed that a Glee reboot is moving forward, and he says the script is done. The creator told Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday that he, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan — the writers of the show’s first two seasons — have completed a script for the revival.
“I just finished the script an hour ago,” Murphy said. “So, we have a script. Brad Falchuk, Ian Brennan and I, who wrote all the first two seasons, have written something. I’ve been in touch with around 10 of the original cast members. It’s very sweet, and they all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea.”
Script Status
Murphy said he, Falchuk and Brennan have finished the script together. He spoke to Entertainment Tonight shortly after completing the draft.
Cast Response
Murphy said he has spoken to about 10 of the original cast members. He described the conversations as sweet, noting that the actors asked many questions but remained enthusiastic about the project.
“It’s very sweet, and they all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea,” he said.
Michele’s Statement
The news comes a week after Lea Michele, who played Rachel Berry for all six seasons, said she would happily return for a reboot. Speaking with E! News, she expressed her feelings about the show and her longtime collaborator.
“I love ‘Glee.’ I will always love ‘Glee.’ I love Ryan Murphy. It just holds such a special place in my heart for me… I will follow Ryan wherever he goes,” she said.

Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan wrote the first two seasons of Glee alongside Murphy. The three have now reunited to write the reboot script.
Murphy’s Plan
Murphy said he wanted to write a couple of episodes to gauge interest from the cast and others. He noted that the group was very close while making the original series.
“So I don’t know, we’ll see,” he said. “I vowed to myself that I wanted to write a couple of them to see what people think, particularly the cast, ’cause we were very close when we were making it.”
