The residents of Rutshire are coming back, and so is a new Steven Spielberg thriller. Hulu’s “Rivals” will resume its second season on Wednesday, November 11, with a three-episode premiere, TVLine has learned. Part 2 continues weekly with new episodes dropping every Wednesday through December 2.
The show, based on Dame Jilly Cooper’s Rutshire Chronicles novels, picks up after the midseason finale. The official description says the battle between Tony Baddingham (David Tennant) and Declan O’Hara (Aidan Turner) “for the Cotswolds crown reaches fever pitch,” while Rupert Campbell-Black (Alex Hassell) “is forced to confront his own personal demons.”
“Against a backdrop of hedonistic parties, Bonfire Night chaos, the Hampshire Hunt Ball, and a turbulent Christmas, affairs unravel, alliances fracture, and rivalries intensify.”
The season also brings back Nafessa Williams (“Black Lightning”) as Cameron Cook, Bella Maclean (“Sex Education”) as Taggie O’Hara, and Katherine Parkinson (“Humans”) as Lizzie Vereker, among others. The series was already renewed for a 12-episode Season 3 back in June.
“Rivals” Returns With a Three-Episode Premiere
The new episodes set up a chaotic holiday stretch for the cast. Taggie O’Hara finds herself “caught in the middle of the frenzied franchise war,” per the description, and must “find the courage to follow her heart.” Meanwhile, those around her “face the consequences of ambition, power and secrets that can no longer remain hidden.”
The season asks a simple question as it closes: “who will get their happy ending?”
That renewal news from June means fans already know the show isn’t ending with this run. The 12-episode Season 3 is locked in, so the cliffhangers coming in December will have somewhere to land.
“Disclosure Day” Streams on Peacock
Steven Spielberg’s “Disclosure Day” will stream exclusively on Peacock starting Friday, October 9. The sci-fi thriller stars Emily Blunt as a meteorologist and Josh O’Connor as a cybersecurity analyst. The pair go on a mission to disclose the existence of aliens to the world, all while trying to evade a government contractor played by Colin Firth.
Eve Hewson and Colman Domingo also star.
“Haunted Hotel” Checks Back Into Netflix
Netflix’s animated “Haunted Hotel” returns for its eight-episode Season 2 on Friday, October 9. The series follows a single mom, voiced by Eliza Coupe, who tries to run the world’s most haunted hotel. The voice cast also includes Will Forte, Skyler Gisondo, Natalie Palamides, and Jimmi Simpson.
The show shares its release date with “Disclosure Day,” so October 9 will be a big day for streaming premieres.
“Treasure Island” Lands on MGM+
“Treasure Island” will premiere in the U.S. on Sunday, October 11 on MGM+, Deadline reports. The six-part adventure series reimagines Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale. It follows young Jim Hawkins (Tom Sweet) and his fiercely determined mother (Hayley Atwell) after they find a legendary treasure map.
The series also stars David Oyelowo as Long John Silver, Jack Huston as Aaron Graham, and Tomer Capone as Billy Bones.
CM Punk Faces the Wings of Death
WWE superstar CM Punk will face the wings of death in a new episode of Netflix’s “Hot Ones: Extra Heat” streaming Monday, September 14 at 10/9c.
That episode arrives before the “Jackass” finale, which lands the following week.
“Jackass: Best and Last” Ends the Franchise
“Jackass: Best and Last” will stream on Paramount+ beginning Thursday, September 24. The franchise’s final movie features Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man (Jason Acuña), Dave England, Danger Ehren (Ehren McGhehey), and more.
The title makes the intent clear. This is the end of the road for the crew.

The next few months give streaming subscribers plenty of reasons to check their calendars. “Rivals” fans get the back half of a season built around Christmas chaos, while October brings two major premieres on the same day. November belongs to Rutshire.
CM Punk’s hot sauce trial streams first on September 14, followed by “Jackass: Best and Last” on September 24. Then October opens with “Disclosure Day” and “Haunted Hotel” on the 9th, before “Treasure Island” lands on the 11th and “Rivals” closes out the year.
