Treaty Oak Revival have had enough of fans throwing shit at them. The Texas country-rock band posted a video on Thursday telling their audience to stop hurling objects during their song “Boomtown.”
“We’ve seen the videos and we’re not happy with what we’re seeing,” singer Sam Canty said. “We will say it from us directly: Please stop throwing shit into the crowd or at the stage during ‘Boomtown.’ We’re all for beer showers, we’re all for crowd surfing, we’re all for raging and having a good time, but please do not throw hard objects into the fucking crowd. It’s hurting people and we don’t fucking condone it.”
The warning comes after at least three incidents of thrown chairs at recent concerts, plus video of a tossed trash can. Last September, Canty himself was struck in the face by a beer can during a performance.
The Boomtown Ritual
Treaty Oak Revival’s live shows have a ritual problem. When they play “Boomtown,” fans shower the band and each other with beer. The band is fine with that. They are not fine with the hard objects that have followed.
The chair thrown during the group’s performance last week in Charlotte, North Carolina, reportedly sent one fan to the hospital. Canty said the videos the band has seen confirm the pattern has gotten out of hand.
The band’s message is blunt: beer showers are cool. Chairs are not.
What Canty Said, In Order
In the video posted on Thursday, Canty broke down the band’s position in a way that leaves no room for confusion. He listed the things fans can keep doing, and the one thing they cannot.
- Beer showers: all good
- Crowd surfing: all good
- Raging and having a good time: all good
- Throwing hard objects: not good
The hospitalization was the tipping point. Canty’s own face being struck by a beer can last September was a warning.
The Chair Incidents
At least three incidents of thrown chairs have been reported at recent Treaty Oak Revival concerts. There is also video circulating of a tossed trash can. The band’s statement in the video makes clear they are watching these videos closely. They are not happy with what they are seeing, and they are not going to sit quietly while the danger grows.
Keith’s Warning
Fans throwing objects at concerts is not a new problem. It has become a hot-button issue, and increasingly common, at some country music concerts over the last two years.
In April 2025, Braxton Keith stopped a show to admonish fans for tossing beer. He elaborated on the issue during an appearance on Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast.
“It’s unacceptable,” Keith said. “You name one place you can throw anything at somebody and it’s ok.”
Treaty Oak Revival are asking for a culture change. They are asking fans to stop treating their concerts as a venue for projectiles.
The Schedule Ahead
Treaty Oak Revival are set to perform at Darien Lake Amphitheater, in Darien Center, New York, on Friday. They then head to Cincinnati for a Saturday night gig.
The band’s message was posted before those shows. The band is asking fans to take care of each other, to treat the crowd as a family, and to have fun without hurting anyone.
“We’re a family,” Canty said. “Let’s have fucking fun.”

Canty On The Haters
In an interview last year with Rolling Stone, Canty addressed criticism of the band and their music.
“Now we’re getting haters — quite a bit of haters, actually,” he said. “I feel it adds fuel to the fire, gives you something to work towards. You just take it with a grain of salt. Most of the time, a few people say it’s shit, but millions of people say it’s badass. Who cares? It’s your music. If people like it, cool. If not, there’s a bajillion other artists you could go listen to.”
The band’s response to criticism is to keep doing what they do. The response to the chair-throwers is different.
What This Means For Fans
The band is not asking for a boring show. They are not asking for quiet. They are asking for safety.
Beer showers are fine. Beer cans to the head are not. Chairs to the hospital are not acceptable.
Treaty Oak Revival have made their position clear. They have seen the videos. They are not happy with what they are seeing.
The band is a family, they say. Let’s have fun. But please, do not throw shit.
