Steven Conrad’s DTF St. Louis ended its run after seven episodes, but the creator is not done with the world he built. In an April interview with GQ, Conrad was asked about returning to the wild world of DTF St. Louis, and he floated a surprising idea: a DTF anthology series.
The show, starring Jason Bateman, Linda Cardellini, and David Harbour, was a favorite of Team Decider and earned 13 Emmy nominations. It took home wins for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Outstanding Writing, Outstanding Cinematography, and Outstanding Directing. Cardellini and Harbour each won for Outstanding Supporting Actor and Actress in a Limited Series or Anthology, with Harbour beating Bateman and Richard Jenkins for the acting win.
The Story Is Finished
DTF St. Louis was written as a miniseries, and the Season 1 story between Clark, Floyd, and Carol is complete. That does not mean the characters have to disappear entirely.
Conrad’s response to the GQ interviewer’s remark about tuning in for more of Richard Jenkins and Joy Sunday talking sex and solving cases was direct. He pointed to the White Lotus instrument as a precedent. “Well, there’s a new instrument now: the White Lotus instrument,” he said. “It’s similar themes and a different setting. A DTF anthology would be sex and violence, and if you had to pick two things as a writer to be restricted to, sex and violence are pretty good. There’s extended possibilities and infinite results, so I could do it.”

The key word remains “potentially.” Conrad is open to more, but there are no new episodes of DTF St. Louis on the horizon right now. The interview suggests the anthology format could work, with the same themes of sex and violence that defined the original series.
For fans hoping for a traditional Season 2, the answer is simple: it is not coming. The story of Clark, Floyd, and Carol is done, and Conrad has said the Season 1 narrative is complete.
