Konami is putting on a tournament series across Japan, and the prize is a deck built from the artwork of three of the game’s most famous faces. The Yu-Gi-Oh! ORIGINAL ARTWORK DUEL SET Event [OCG] runs from November 3rd, 2026 through January 31st, 2027, and it asks players to pick a Deck built from the Duel Set of their choice.

The Setup

The event features 16 person Swiss style tournaments. Each player builds a Deck from one of the three Duel Sets tied to Yugi, Joey and Kaiba.

The Sets

Three Duel Sets are available for the event:

The Dates

The event spans three months, from November 3rd, 2026 to January 31st, 2027.

What It Means For Players

The Swiss format means matches are arranged based on results from earlier rounds, so players keep facing new opponents throughout the day. It also means the best players rise to the top while the rest of the field gets sorted out early.

Building from a single Duel Set adds an extra layer of strategy.

The Visual Appeal

The Duel Sets were released as a way to celebrate the original artwork behind the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise.

The Tournament Structure

The 16 person format means a manageable number of players per session. It also means the field is small enough that players can remember their opponents and track how they’re performing.

How To Participate

Interested players should watch the official website for updates as the event approaches.

Why This Matters

The three-month window gives the event a sense of occasion. Players can see how their builds hold up over time.

“Yu-Gi-Oh!”

The Verdict

This is a delightful addition to the Yu-Gi-Oh! calendar. The combination of Swiss tournaments and a focus on the original artwork ties together in a way that respects both the competitive side of the game and the love for its visual history.

Players who enjoy the art side of Yu-Gi-Oh! now have a structured way to put that interest into practice.
