A TikToker named Fiji has shared her worst nights as a host at a busy restaurant, and the internet is eating it up. Her story, titled the “glorified babysitting chronicles,” has drawn 64,400 views and 134 comments, with viewers chiming in about their own restaurant nightmares.
The Early Arrivers
Fiji tells of a couple who walked in for a 7:30 p.m. reservation. She explained the restaurant was busy and the first table to open would be theirs, but they returned wanting an update. “They’re hungry, they’re ready to eat, they came here early, but, like, please, they’re starting to get a little attitude with me,” she said.
She understood them. She just wanted them to stop asking.
Hot Food, Cold Patience
At one point, Fiji had to step in and help deliver food, finding herself holding plates of extremely hot tacos or lasagna. The napkins were gone, and she was burning her hands on fire. “My hands are burning on fire. And they’re just looking at me,” she said.
The customers at that table did not thank her. They asked for the manager.
The Six-Top That Was Already Seated
Her last table of the night was a six-top. She got them checked in and sent to their seats, only to find another group already sitting there. She asked if they had been helped before explaining the situation.
“Can I go ahead and have you guys go on to this other table or at the bar, please? I have a table coming to sit down here, right?” she said. “And then they were like, ‘Oh, no, someone told us that we can sit here waiting for our drinks.’ I was like, ‘So, no, we can’t sit here, because it’s not a free-for-all table you can sit at, but at the bar, absolutely.'”
They moved, but not without giving her an attitude about being asked to leave.
What Viewers Said
Fiji’s story struck a nerve with other people who have worked in customer service. Several commenters said the situation could have been avoided if the customers had simply waited at the bar or communicated with her.
“Why can’t people just chill and start with drinks at the bar and cool out I’ll come grab you when the tables ready :/” one user asked.
“If I said your orders and no one speaks I’m taking the food away because I guess yall not hungry,” another said, regarding the table that looked at her while she was holding their food.
The Verdict on Fiji’s Tale
Fiji’s story is a reminder that restaurant chaos is not just about bad service. It is about customers who refuse to wait at the bar, who demand attention before they are seated, and who assume a table is theirs because nobody told them otherwise.
The Daily Dot was unable to independently verify the events described in the video, which are based solely on @ms.fiji000’s account shared on TikTok. But the response tells its own story: people who have worked in customer service know exactly what she is talking about.
